West Bengal: BJP booth worker allegedly killed by TMC goons in clash during flag hoisting ceremony

Hooghly: During the flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, a scuffle broke out reportedly, between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP workers in Khanakul in the Arambagh subdivision.

The BJP booth worker Sudarshan Pramanik, 40, was beaten to death by TMC goons. Police have detained eight people after the incident.

“A clash broke out between locals over hoisting the Indian flag at Khanakul in the morning. A man was killed when he was attacked with bamboo sticks. We have detained eight persons for interrogation,” said Tathagata Basu, superintendent of police of Hooghly district.

The clash began after a verbal confrontation took place between the leaders of the two parties. This also led to the bombing in the area.

“Such incidents will continue till the TMC is in power. Till date 108 BJP workers and leaders have been killed,” said Sayantan Basu, general secretary of BJP.
