Yoshihide Suga elected as Prime Minister of Japan; PM Modi congratulates

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Yoshihide Suga on being elected as the new prime minister of Japan.

“Heartiest congratulations to Excellency Yoshihide Suga on the appointment as Prime Minister of Japan @kantei. I look forward to jointly taking our Special Strategic and Global Partnership to new heights. @sugawitter,” PM Modi tweeted.

Suga, the new leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, pledged to push forward with former prime minister Shinzo Abe policies such as “Abenomics”, a mix of measures aimed at beating deflation and spurring growth in the world’s third-largest economy.
